Ivorian Vice President Receives President Oramah

The President of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), Dr. Benedict Oramah, met yesterday in Ahmedabad, India, with Vice President Daniel Kablan Duncan of Cote d’Ivoire for discussions on the Bank’s support for Cote d’Ivoire’s economic development.

Vice President Duncan, who received the Afreximbank President in the course of his visit to India to participate in the Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank (AfDB), used the opportunity to brief Dr. Oramah on Cote d’Ivoire’s industrial policy and on the country’s effort to attract more foreign private investment into its various economic sectors.

He commended Afreximbank for its continuing support to Cote d’Ivoire and said that the country would continue to work with the Bank. Afreximbank currently operates a branch office in Abidjan.

The discussions also covered Afreximbank’s plans to develop several industrial parks in Cote d’Ivoire to drive industrialization and export manufacturing.

Dr. Oramah, who was also in Ahmedabad for the AfDB Annual Meetings, was accompanied to the meeting by Kanayo Awani, Managing Director, Intra-African Trade Initiative; Obi Emekekwue, Head of Communications; Alain Thierry Mbongue, Regional Manager, Francophone West and Central Africa; Ekene Uzor, Special Assistant to the President; and Jean-Christian Koudou of the Export Development Finance Department.
