The mandate of the Bank is to provide liquidity for trade and project related finance and related activities across the continent, in order to facilitate the quantitative and qualitative growth of trade on the continent.

The Bank is set up in such a way that your job will be related to its origination and business development activities across the African continent (Trade Finance, Syndications, Project Finance, Export Development Programs, Corporate Finance and Advisory Services) or support activities to ensure efficiency and precision in the delivery of the Bank’s mandate (Credit, Legal Services, Compliance, Banking Operations, Board Secretariat, Risk Management, Administration, Internal Audit and Human Resources.)

Running a lean, wholesale banking-based structure means that Afreximbank typically recruits experienced mid-career professionals. Typically, your colleagues are other professionals from all regions of the African continent, many of whom have moved from their home countries with their families to their current work locations, with the majority stationed at the Bank’s HQ office building in Cairo, Egypt and others in Abuja, Abidjan and Harare. External interactions involve captains of industry, high level African and other global bankers, senior African & non-African Government officials, international & multilateral organization staff across the continent and indeed the globe. These include professionals from over 100 private sector banks in Africa as Trade Finance Intermediaries (TFIs), including leading African banks such as Ecobank, UBA, MBCA, Faisal Islamic Bank and FBN UK; as well as staff from the Bank’s key international parties who channel financing to the African continent through the Bank’s syndications and club deals, such as Standard Chartered, HSBC, BTMU and lines of credit from ECA and DFIs such as the African Development Bank, the IFC, China Development Banking Corporation, China EXIM, EXIM India, SACE and US Exim.
