Research & Statistics

Research and Statistics plays the lead role in generating, organizing and analyzing data for research purposes covering trade, economic development, industry, sectoral, and general market issues. The function produces commodity and market asymmetry indices whiles undertaking extensive country studies covering critical issues of interest including general macroeconomic and debt sustainability. Modeling and forecasting activities are carried out by the function while serving as the back-end of the Bank’s risk modeling framework consistent with the implementation of IFRS 9. Working with academia and other research institutions, the unit coordinates the production of flagship publications including Contemporary Issues in African Trade and Trade Finance (CIAT), Afreximbank Working Paper Series, Afreximbank Occasional Papers, Trade and Development Finance Brief and African Trade and Development Indicators. With most African economies being commodity- dependent, commodity research is given special attention by the function leading to the publication of various commodity-related papers.
