African Syndications Forum promotes market dialogue by UK Based Africa-focused lenders

London, 08 July 2024: – The latest edition of the Afreximbank African Syndications Forum (ASF), was held in London on 2nd July 2024. The event was hosted by Zenith Bank UK with support from the series ‘initiator and administrator,’ African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank).

The July ASF provided participants with a valuable networking platform to discuss mutually beneficial opportunities. The event aimed to stimulate dialogue and interest in meeting the high demand for capital across the African continent which can act as a catalyst for economic growth, job creation and improved financial stability.

Participants gained insights into current market trends and mandates, enabling them to align their strategies and identify new business opportunities. The forum also highlighted the continent’s new digitally enabled innovations designed to streamline and accelerate trading activities between global partner Banks and their clients through efficient and cost effective collaborative trading ecosystems. Additionally, the session offered an opportunity to engage in discussions on various trade finance distribution transactions.

Commenting on the session, Mr. Haytham El Maayergi, Executive Vice President, Global Trade Bank, Afreximbank, commended the role that the ASF plays in creating greater awareness and the potential adoption of Afreximbank products and services. He also shared his appreciation for the continued support from the Bank’s partners: “Without their willingness to host and attend, the event would not be a success. Mr. El Maayergi said that the event reinforced Afreximbank’s convening role in the African syndicated loan market, further strengthening its market leadership position.

Organised by Afreximbank, the ASF was established as a London-based quarterly meeting bringing together Africa-focused lenders to discuss market trends, hear updates on Afreximbank’s lending pipeline and explore new business opportunities. It fosters dialogue within the African syndication market community.
