Afreximbank, China Exim Exchange Joint Initiatives Memo

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and China Eximbank, on 6 November in Shanghai, China, exchanged memos on joint initiatives they are pursuing.

The ceremony for the exchange of the signed Joint Initiative Memos, which took place on the sidelines of the China International Import Expo, was presided over by Xu Yan, General Manager, International Department, at China Eximbank. Ms. Xu is also a member of the Board of Directors of Afreximbank.

The Afreximbank team consisted of Jean-Christian Koudou, Manager, Export Development, and Temwa Gondwe, Manager, Intra-African Trade Initiative.

Also participating in the ceremony from China Eximbank were Li Li, President of the Shanghai Branch, and Dai Shihong, General Manager of the Customer Service Management Department.

Afreximbank and China Eximbank are working as financial partners to promote and finance trade and investment relations between China and Africa and the signing of the Joint Initiative Memos aims to strengthen their commitment to collaborating in the promotion of China-Africa trade and investment relations.

The Joint Initiative Memo is expected to enable the two institutions to leverage on China’s commitment to expand imports from Africa, particularly for light manufactures and processed commodities.
