Seychelles places very high importance in partnering with the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in order to grow the Island country’s economy, the Minister of Finance, Trade and Blue Economy, Jean Paul Adam, has said in Victoria, the country’s capital

Receiving an Afreximbank delegation led by Bank President Dr. Benedict Oramah in his office today, Mr. Adam said that Seychelles was looking for new opportunities where the Bank could assist in the economy.

He said that the decision by the country to host the Annual Customer Due Diligence and Corporate Forum being organized by Afreximbank from 29 to 30 October was in order to underscore that sustainable economic growth could only be achieved when the right platforms existed.

According to Mr. Adam, Seychelles recognizes that it cannot compete with other economies on the basis of cost but could do so based on the quality of its products and services and through excellence in the areas of assurance and good governance.

Earlier, Dr. Oramah had informed the Minister, who was joined by Michael Benstrong, the Minister of Investment, Entrepreneurship Development and Business Innovation, and Caroline Abel, the Governor of the Central Bank of Seychelles, that the visit by the Afreximbank delegation was to express gratitude to Seychelles for agreeing to host the Customer Due Diligence and Corporate Governance Forum and to also explore ways in which Afreximbank could support the Seychellois economy.
