A delegation of African defence advisers serving in Egypt today paid a visit to the Headquarters of the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in an effort to strengthen relations with the continental trade finance institution.
Led by Gen. Diomede Ndegeya, Defence Adviser at the Embassy of Burundi in Egypt, the three-man delegation informed Afreximbank President Dr. Benedict Oramah that the Association of African Defence Advisers comprised 30 members, who formed part of the 74 defence advisers currently deployed in Egypt from all over the world.
The advisers said that they showcased Africa through an annual Africa Day event at which African foods, artifacts and other native materials were displayed and which was attended by association members, their spouses and other guests.
This year’s event would take place on 25 November at the Embassy of Ghana to Egypt, they said.
Accompanying Gen. Ntegeya on the visit were Col. Deon De Kock, Defence Adviser at the Embassy of South Africa, and Commander Abubakar Umar, Deputy Defence Adviser at the Embassy of Nigeria.
Joining President Oramah in receiving the delegation were Dr. George Elombi, Executive Vice-President (Governance, Legal and Corporate Services); Amr Kamel, Executive Vice-President (Business Development and Corporate Banking); Dr. Robert Tomusange, Director (Administration); Obi Emekekwue, Head of Communications; and Richman Dzene, Special Assistant to the President.
