The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) places high premium on partnerships in pursuing its mandate to promote Africa-South trade, the President, Prof. Benedict Oramah, has said in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Prof. Oramah, who was speaking today during a panel discussion at the International Islamic Trade Finance Corporation (ITFC) Partners Forum, said that Afreximbank needed partners like the ITFC in order to promote such trade.
“Working with ITFC is now more important than ever, given the need for Africa to diversify its trading partners,” he said, adding, “Any partnership that helps build infrastructure in Africa is good for the continent and good for the world.”
Also participating in the panel were Muhammad Hammad Azar, Minister of Economic Affairs of Pakistan, and Hani Salem Sonbol, Chief Executive Officer of ITFC.
The theme of the panel was “Trade as a tool for development: Role of ITFC and its partners”.
