Staff of the African Export-Import Bank on 17 July hosted an Iftar (breaking of the fast) gathering in commemoration of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
The event brought together the Muslim and non-Muslim staff at the Bank’s newly completed ultra-modern cafeteria for an evening of food, beverages and other light refreshments as the Muslim faithful broke their fast for the day. The event, held under the theme “Unity and Gratitude”, was also attended by members of the Bank’s Senior Management led by the President, Mr. Jean-Louis Ekra.
Earlier in a message to staff, the principal organizer of the event, Ms. Nancy Victor of the Office of the Executive Vice-President for Business Development and Corporate Banking, had said that the gathering was to enable the staff to “express our appreciation to our colleagues for their support and hard work and to live the meanings of equality, forgiveness and harmony which the Holy Month was about.”
The highlight of the event was the presentation of “Ramadan bags” containing dry and canned food items to some of the staff who provide support services to the Bank.
