The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) took its trade finance promotion effort to this year’s Atlantic Basin Initiative gathering which took place in Veracruz, Mexico, from 15 to 17 January, with the goal of broadening Africa’s presence in trade and investment activities in the Atlantic Hemisphere.
Under the auspices of the Center for Trans-Atlantic Relations at John’s Hopkins University, United States, the Atlantic Basin Initiative groups eminent persons drawn from the four continents of the Atlantic, as well as a new network of partner institutions across the full Atlantic space, to consider ways to work more effectively with other Atlantic nations.
The Veracruz gathering highlighted the scope of trade and investment in the Atlantic Basin and identified potential areas for business in the Atlantic hemisphere.
Afreximbank was represented by Dr. Benedict O. Oramah, the Executive Vice President in charge of Business Development and Corporate Banking. He was accompanied by Dr. Raymond Boumbouya of the Bank’s Research, Planning and International Cooperation Department.
