A delegation from the Export-Import Bank of China (China Eximbank) led by Chairperson HU Xiaolian, visited the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) today for discussions on collaboration between the two institutions.
Receiving the delegation, Afreximbank President Prof. Benedict Oramah said that the Bank considered China Eximbank a very strong partner in many areas, including in raising funds internationally and in implementing projects across Africa.
He thanked Ms. Hu for honoring Afreximbank’s invitation to attend the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) taking place in Cairo from 11 to 17 December, saying that the Fair was part of effort to promote an integrated Africa.
“Africa looks to china for the supply of capital goods required for building up the infrastructure to support trade across the continent,” added Prof. Oramah, who expressed the hope that the visit would strengthen China Eximbank’s confidence in Afreximbank and help relations between the two banks to grow even stronger.
Responding, Ms. Hu noted that China and Africa shared a lot of common interests, as exemplified by the trading partnerships and strong bilateral relationships with many African countries.
She expressed appreciation for the invitation to the IATF and called for the development of stronger economic and trading ties between the two banks in the light of the current global climate.
The delegation took the opportunity of the visit to tour the Afreximbank Knowledge Centre.
