The Africa Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit institution committed to the principle that a just and peaceful world begins with a flourishing Africa in deep communion with its diaspora. Located in New York City, The Africa Center convenes artists, creatives, cultural leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers to shape artistic expression, narratives, investments, and partnerships critical to the prosperous and secure future of Africa and its diaspora.

Key Responsibilities
1. Diaspora Trade and Investment Engagement

Promote awareness of Afreximbank initiatives including diaspora bonds, FEDA, ADADIN, and remittance-linked products.

Coordinate diaspora-focused forums, trade missions, and market entry programs.

Facilitate matchmaking between African businesses and diaspora investors.

Strengthen Africa–diaspora commercial linkages through The Africa Center’s platform.
2. Strategic Research and Insight Generation

Oversee the Global Africa Gateway Research Study and related projects.

Generate actionable insights on diaspora finance, savings, remittances, and economic behavior.

Commission and manage research partnerships with institutions and consultants.

Ensure research outcomes inform public programming, narrative development, and policy engagement.
3. Civic Engagement and Community Partnerships

Build sustained relationships with civic leaders and organizations serving African-descended communities.

Facilitate public education and cultural exchange aligned with The Africa Center’s nonprofit mandate.

Foster consultation and trusted dialogue across global diaspora hubs.

Ensure compliance with U.S. nonprofit and lobbying regulations.
4. Narrative and Program Integration

Translate insights into exhibitions, convenings, policy briefs, and digital content.

Identify opportunities at the intersection of culture and heritage that support job creation and economic inclusion for Africa’s youth.

Collaborate across internal teams to embed diaspora strategy into storytelling and programming.
5. Stakeholder Management and Program Oversight

Serve as the primary liaison to Afreximbank and other strategic partners.

Lead implementation of the Global Africa Gateway program at The Africa Center.

Manage program timelines, budgets, reporting, and deliverables.

Deliver quarterly strategic briefs relevant to Afreximbank’s diaspora strategy, synthesizing insights from research, engagement, and program outcomes.

Represent The Africa Center in multilateral, philanthropic, academic, and cultural forums.
Candidate Profile

Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Public Policy, International Development, or related field.

Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience in finance, diaspora engagement, or research.

Demonstrated credibility in engaging entrepreneurs, investors, and financial institutions, particularly within African and diaspora markets.

Proven success in building and managing cross-sector partnerships that translate insights into action.

Deep understanding of African and African-descended communities.

Strong skills in research interpretation, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement.

Ability to operate within U.S. nonprofit legal and compliance frameworks.

Experience translating technical/financial content into accessible narratives and institutional strategies.

Supervisory experience or leading cross-functional project teams preferred.
