Job Summary
The Manager, Corporate Strategy plays a critical role in shaping and driving the Bank’s corporate strategic planning process, including strategy formulation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and control.
Working closely with cross-functional teams, the role provides analytical insight and professional expertise to identify evolving strategic priorities, define objectives and performance metrics, and ensure effective execution of the Bank’s long-term strategic plan and annual business plans.
Key Responsibilities
1. Corporate Strategy Development & Execution
-
Contribute to the development of the Bank’s long-term strategic plan and annual business plan for approval by Senior Management and the Board of Directors.

Develop strategy and product papers aligned with implementation of the corporate strategic plan.

Monitor internal and external developments affecting the Bank and provide strategic insight for short-term and long-term positioning.

Support translation of strategic objectives into annual work programmes and departmental activity plans.

Monitor implementation of strategic plans and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
2. Strategy Management Office (SMO) Support
-
Support execution and monitoring of the Bank’s Strategic Plan.

Contribute to subsidiary strategy formulation and alignment with the Bank’s overall strategic direction.

Participate in cross-functional coordination to ensure seamless strategy implementation.

Assist in preparing strategic status reports and Executive presentations.
-
Contribute to half-year and annual strategic reporting processes.
3. Analysis, Reporting & Risk Management
-
Provide analytical input to annual work programme and budget processes.
-
Support strategy reviews and recommend refinements based on findings.
-
Contribute to risk appetite determination in collaboration with Risk Management Division.

Conduct environmental scanning and prepare event-triggered strategic reports.
-
Provide industry, market, competitor and macroeconomic analysis relevant to Africa’s trade and development landscape.
4. Scenario Planning & Financial Modelling
-
Build and maintain multi-layered scenario planning and financial models.
-
Conduct projections relating to revenues, capital allocation, funding, and strategic targets.
-
Perform sensitivity analysis to support strategy formulation and adjustments.
-
Assess modelling risks and recommend mitigation measures.
-
Apply statistical and modelling software tools effectively.
5. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
-
Prepare strategy papers and presentations for Executive Management and Board Committees.

Support stakeholder satisfaction initiatives and feedback analysis.
-
Collaborate across departments to enhance strategic alignment.
-
Support organization of Bank events aligned with strategic objectives.
6. Compliance Responsibilities
-
Adhere to AML, Regulatory and Conduct Compliance policies.
-
Report suspicious or non-compliant activities to Compliance Department.
-
Complete Annual Compliance Training.
-
Ensure customer portfolio understanding and appropriate KYC documentation.
-
Support onboarding processes in collaboration with Compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Qualifications
-
Postgraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or related field from a recognized university.
-
Minimum of 12 years of experience as a Corporate Strategy professional, preferably in consulting or financial services.
Required Experience & Skills
-
Proven experience preparing and presenting strategic and business plans within the financial services industry.

Strong financial modelling, statistical analysis and forecasting capabilities.
-
Clear understanding of trade development issues in Africa.
-
Experience offering strategic insights into industry, consumer and competitor trends.
-
Strong research, analytical, and presentation skills.
-
Ability to interact effectively with senior officials in banks, multilaterals, corporates and governments.
-
Strong communication skills in English (knowledge of French, Arabic or Portuguese is an advantage).

Ability to work effectively in culturally diverse and change-oriented environments.
