The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) delegation led by Bank President Prof. Benedict Oramah to the 2019 Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund is departing Washington D.C. at the conclusion of the assignment.

The delegation’s participation in the Annual meetings provided an opportunity for meetings and consultations with ministers, central bank governors and other African officials attending the meetings to brief them on the Bank’s activities in support of African trade.

The delegation also held meetings with business leaders and other stakeholders to advance the mandate of the Bank and discuss issues of mutual interest.

In addition, on the sidelines of the meeting, the Bank hosted the third Babacar Ndiaye Lecture, with Gen. William Ward, inaugural Commander of the United States Africa Command, as the guest speaker. Afreximbank introduced the Babacar Ndiaye Lecture in 2017 as an annual international lecture series to honour the memory of Dr. Babacar Ndiaye who played a key role in the establishment of the Bank.
