The Bank has three categories of shareholders, namely:

CLASS "A", consists of African governments, central banks, African regional and sub-regional institutions.

CLASS "B", consists of African private investors and financial institutions.

CLASS "C" , consists of non-African financial institutions, export credit agencies and private investors.

The Bank's authorized capital of US$ 750 million is allocated for subscription as follows:
35 percent (or US$262.5 million) for Class A shareholders.
40 percent (or US $300.0 million) for Class B shareholders.
25 percent (or US $187.5 million) for Class C shareholders.
